| Cut Copy's new Oceans Apart compilation, showcasing a 'glimpse of dance culture' in their home city of Melbourne, is out today worldwide.
Featuring Tornado Wallace, Roland Tings, Andras & Oscar, Knightlife and more, Oceans Apart offers a snapshot of electronic music and club culture at its current point in the Victorian capital, with some of Melbourne's finest talent spread across 19 tracks.
Speaking recently with MTV about the compilation's name, Cut Copy's Dan Whitford said:
"For me, it sort of resonated on a few levels. We are in this place that seems quite exotic and distant to people for those living in other parts of the world, like in the States and in Europe.
The meaning of ‘Oceans Apart’ is being something that describes the music, in some ways, by being really progressive and ‘out there’ and pushing the boundaries of what’s happening right now."
The compilation will be launched at the Queen Victoria Market as part of Melbourne Music Week this Saturday November 15, with sets to come from Cut Copy, Andras & Oscar, Nile Delta, Sleep D and more.
