Notorious conservative political commentator Rush Limbaugh confessed that Caribou’s ‘Can’t Do Without You’ is one of his favorite songs and said he wanted to use it regularly as a bumper on his radio show. This prompted Dan Snaith, the man behind the track, to condemn the outspoken radio host’s remarks. As the election in the United States heats up, it seems as though more public figures are making their political opinions known or simply denouncing people who represent a certain political viewpoint. A host of musicians have already made it clear they do not want politicians or other political figures to use their music, as they do not want to be associated with them in any way. Last week Snaith posted a fierce tweet directed at Limbaugh after hearing of his “obsession” with the track ‘Can’t Do Without You’. Snaith was obviously outraged by him wanting to use his track, beginning the message by plainly stating “fuck off” and following that up with “stop being a bigot”. Limbaugh is known for having strong conservative opinions on topics like slavery, telling the Obamas to get over it, dismissing the concept of sexual consent and saying that “feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of pop culture”.
