Porter Robinson has given advice to up-and-coming artists, citing "identity" as an important asset. The North Carolina producer, who released his debut album 'Worlds' in August, was speaking at the Electronic Music Conference in Sydney, Australia. On stage with keynote moderator Nick Thayer, Porter said more energy should be focused on creating a sense of identity rather than directly attempting to change the game. "The more effort you put into changing the game, the less likely it is to happen. The best subversion happens naturally. I think the better way is to do it is try and do something that stands out. And having an identity is really important for that." He also praised Flume for creating such a unique sound and said people who try to "play the game" are being counterproductive. Have a read of what Porter had to say when we joined him on his live show in Los Angeles and San Francisco in September.
