In a day that is full of Daft Punk collaborator news, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes disclosed that there is an unreleased track from ‘Random Access Memories’ that is “weird” and “definitely not one tenth as pop-u-licious as ‘Instant Crush’.” In talking to Revolt TV with his new band The Voidz, The Strokes frontman noted that his sessions with the French duo on their last album yielded an additional, as-yet-unnamed track that was substantially less poppy and dancefloor friendly than ‘Instant Crush’, but he has no idea if it'll ever see the light of day. “I bothered [Daft Punk] again last night and was like, ‘That song man, you got to put out that song’, but I don’t know,” he said to Revolt. “It’s a song that just goes up, like four half-steps up and it’s just that on repeat. It’s super bizarre. It’s like jazz, modern weird.” With a Daft Punk live vinyl boxset stuffed with goodies in the works for Christmas, one wonders if we might get a taste of the weirdness that Casablancas is hinting at...
