| Our second show at the all-new creative art and event space, Canal Mills, draws together three of the industry’s heavyweights for a night that will span across the genres we love best. Expect everything from reggae to dub to drum ‘n’ bass to dubstep, for an evening that will truly rattle the foundations of this stunning red brick building we now call home. First up, a man who hasn’t played for Metropolis in Leeds for well over a year, and someone who in that time has grown to become one of the most respected figureheads worldwide in the dubstep discipline. One third of Magnetic Man and one half Radio 1’s Friday night bass driven show, HOOOO YESSS (garage shoutout stylie) it’s Benga (not forgetting Youngman MC who will be hosting the proceedings). The next man needs no introduction (although for the purpose of this we’re gonna have to). David Rodigan MBE. Nothing we write here can even begin to justify the history and contribution he has brought to the music scene over the last 30 years; always the most enthusiastic behind the decks and bringing us not only a stellar selection of tunes, but an education to accompany them, we could not be more excited to welcome him back. Alongside what is an already banging line up, we bring yet another Radio 1 big dawg to this brand new home of ours. Undoubtedly a pioneer in his field and the founder of one of the UK’s most credible drum and bass focused record labels, of course we’re talking about Shogun Audio head honcho, Friction alongside MC Linguistics. |
