| This is one we have been waiting to let out the bag for a while, and now is the time my friends. Saturday 19th of January will see one of our most comprehensive line ups to date grace the venue courtesy of Wax:On, and it is quite simply stunning.
Jamie XX. Where do we start? How someone can be both a member of one of the most influential and pioneering bands of our generation, and a highly acclaimed producer by the same token is quite the feat. Well this guy is just that. Very rare these days are his DJ sets, and we are so unbelievably humbled to be one of the chosen venues in which to share his talents as a selector. No biography we write here can quite encompass the calibre of artist he is, but we are simply overjoyed to be welcoming him to Canal Mills for what we know will be one of our most memorable sets to date.
From one innovative producer to another, co-founder of Eglo Records Floating Points will be taking to the ones and twos for a set which, as ever, promises to be both experimental and eclectic. Widely supported by British radio DJs, Sam Shepherd is hailed as one of the finest producers the country has to offer, with each production showcasing his ability to intertwine the sounds of soul, gospel, blues, jazz, dub and house to create anthemic arrangements of aural beauty.
After catching him at a few festivals this summer, one thing Huxley certainly does is deliver. With his personal interest in music stemming back to early US and UKG, this influence is inherent within his productions, infusing bass led house with an amalgamation of the former. He knows how to get the party going, that’s for sure.
Maxxi Soundsystem is a name that is developing at an astronomical rate. Formally better known for his forward thinking party in Brighton schtumm!, it was working alongside Thomas Gandey from Cagedbaby when his career as an artist really kicked off. With remixes under his belt for the likes of Hercules & Love Affair and The 2 Bears, as well as his cracking latest release on Hypercolour “Regrets We Have No Use For”, we expect 2013 to be the year of Maxxi Soundsystem.
Atmospheric, ethereal and hypnotic; this is the sound of Evian Christ, one of the most exciting young talents to elucidate in the last 12 months. Having released on one of our favourite labels, Cologne based “Tri Angle”, the 22 year old producer has created a sound so unique, one listen of his mezmorising hip hop influenced tracks and your totally engulfed. This is one we’re really looking forward to. |
