'Being right sucks': The Simpsons poke fun at themselves in opening credits of first episode since Trump's election after predicting his presidency 16 years ago After The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump would become president of the U.S. back in 2000, the latest episode seemed to express their regret in being right. In the opening credits of Sunday night's episode - the first to air since Trump's victory - Bart Simpson scowls as he writes 'being right sucks' on a chalkboard. The Simpsons confirmed the opening credits, which change every episode, was in fact in reference to the 'Bart to the Future' episode which aired 16 years ago. 'The Simpsons updates its 2000 prediction of a Trump Presidency... #TheSimpsons,' the show tweeted.
