| M.I.A's middle finger landed her in hot water in 2012, raising it during Madonna's half-time Super Bowl show, and she's now asked the singer for financial help as the NFL has demanded $16.6m (£9.1m) in compensation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the NFL is demanding $15.1m in "restitution" while a further $1.5m had already been requested due to a breach of contract.
But it seems she's putting a brave face on about the debacle, sending a tongue-in-cheek tweet to Madonna last night, asking for a somewhat generous loan.
The fee may seem a little extravagant but the American Football body claims the figure is based on what advertisers would have paid for adverts while she was performing.
M.I.A's legal team doesn't believe there is any real weight behind the claim though, stating: "The claim for restitution lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic." |
