It's been an incredible 12 months for Ukrainian DJ Nastia, who mixes minimal to melodic techno with a dreamy ebb and flow that oozes class. Sets at Fabric with Richie Hawtin and Hito, a breathtaking d’n’b Mixmag Lab and an appearance at Kappa Futurfestival saw her named as one of Mixmag's DJ's of 2016. Now to celebrate her appearance on the magazine's March 2017 cover she'll be playing a unique daytime party at Shoreditch venue Kamio. An affinity for dance music is threaded intrinsically into Anastasia Topolskaia’s genetic makeup. She hails from a tiny Ukrainian village where as a child she helped her mother rear chickens and pigs, with no musical education to speak of. But a passionate love for dancing and music developed within her, and in pursuing this she’s now taken position among Europe’s most in-demand selectors. Nastia started her musical path sneaking into clubs at the age of 13, and by 17 had started working as a dancer in beloved Donetsk nightspot Club NLO. This satisfied her for a time, but eventually she felt the need for a closer, more intimate connection with the music and began to DJ. Behind the decks Nastia maintains the intensity of a professional dancer. In 2009 a clip of her performing during a nine-hour set at Moscow festival KaZantip’s closing party went viral, with the ferocity of her movement and the potency of her records blowing minds across the world. In 2013 she entered the production studio for the first time and showed equal adeptness at crafting transcendent cuts of simmering, deep techno with the ‘Maslo’ EP landing on Nilla. In the same year she founded her vinyl-only Propaganda label through which she has pushed a similarly distinct sound. Counting herself as a selector first and foremost, through 2016 Nastia lived up to the high standards she holds herself to. Clubs across the globe lined up to book her, including the likes of fabric, Panorama Bar and DC-10, and with every set she’s dazzled crowds, earning herself the eighth spot in Mixmag’s DJs of 2016. Don’t miss the chance to see Nastia in the intimate setting of London venue Kamio. Tickets are on sale now, purchase them here and keep updated via the Facebook event.
