| Google is hard at work developing code that can help it translate the twisty numbers hanging on people’s houses and mailboxes so that it can accurately show locations in Google Maps.
The endeavor has led to another discovery: that algorithm can also crack Google’s own Captcha security puzzles, those reviled boxes of mashed up text that you interpret and enter into a field to prove you are a human and not a robot submitting information online. The accuracy rate was near perfect. (A feat, Verge points out, that humans are still struggling with.) |
