Celebrating its 18 year anniversary this weekend, the good people at London’s fabric nightclub have donated £68,000 in leftover fundraising cash to a variety of charities. Following the closure of the revered music venue in September of last year, the nightclub’s enthusiastic and loyal community banded together to get the club to reopen. Taking to social media with the hashtags #savefabric and #saveourculture, London’s music community managed to make enough noise and raise enough cash that the owners reached an agreement with Islington Council and the police that resulted in the reopening of the club only months later. Raising over £330,000 during the course of the campaign, the leftover funds have been donated to the following charities: The Loop, NTIA, Music Venue Trust, Centrepoint Midi Music Company, Make-A-Wish UK, Nordoff Robbins and YUAF. Fabric has also unveiled a donor board in Room 2 of the club which includes the names of everyone who contributed to their fundraiser. See it in the picture below. Fabric’s weekend celebration includes a fabriclive party on Friday and a marathon party from Saturday night until Monday morning.
