| After much anticipation, Gorillaz have finally announced their forthcoming album title and release date.
Revealed via a series of Instagram posts spelling out the album name, ‘Humanz’, Gorillaz increased the hype once again, something they have continuously done since band leader Damon Albarn and creative mind Jamie Hewlett shared they were in the studio working on new material at the tail end of 2016.
Set for release on April 28, 'Humanz' features a cast of talent that many have speculated in the past week. Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, Grace Jones, De La Soul, Jehnny Beth of Savages, Pusha T, Danny Brown, Vince Staples, Kelela, and D.R.A.M. are all confirmed collaborators.
Bringing the animated band’s aesthetic into the future, Gorillaz also shared upgraded artwork for each member, 2D, Noodle, Russell, and Murdoc.
Today also marks the debut of more new music from 'Humanz' by way of an animated film directed by Jamie Hewlett. The film features ‘Saturnz Barz’ in full, plus highlights of ‘Ascension’, ‘Andromeda’ and ‘We Got The Power'. |
