GitHub said co-founder and president Tom Preston-Werner resigned in the wake of the company’s investigation into allegations of gender-based harassment. Although the investigation found no evidence of harassment by Preston-Werner or his wife, there was “evidence of mistakes and errors of judgement,” GitHub CEO Chris Wanstrath said Monday in a blog post. Preston-Werner submitted his resignation, which the company has accepted, Github said. It has been a tumultuous few weeks for GitHub since Julie Ann Horvath, one of its developers, said in March that she was a victim of harassment. On Twitter and to TechCrunch, Horvath detailed a long list of complaints. She said male co-workers fostered an inhospitable working environment, judging her work based on her gender instead of its merit. She also accused Preston-Werner’s wife of verbal attacks and intimidation.
