| Shazam, the music app that identifies music, is no longer confined to digitally released tracks.
A partnership has been formed with Juno, a dance music retailer that will upload thousands of vinyl-only tracks to the Shazam database. This will be particularly useful in nightclubs with a DJ using a vinyl collection.
According to a Juno spokesperson, vinyl has recently become more popular with a sales increase of 20 per cent in the past year: "Vinyl music is seeing a resurgence in the industry, with sales at their highest for 15 years."
Juno also said that exciting new music is first released on vinyl before digital. This means Shazam users would be able to discover the music and purchase it from the Juno catalogue on vinyl before it's even been released digitally. |
