Beatport has spoken out about artists and labels boosting sales chart positions, stating those found guilty will be permanently banned.
Posting a statement on its website, the music outlet has questioned those that use chart-boosting services, asking whether it is worth risking your reputation and career and outlined the effects it has on others working legitimately.
The statement reads: "If you’re artificially boosting your sales to fake the demand needed to score a favorable chart position, you’re robbing someone else, someone more deserving, of that same spot.
"You’re doing more than cheating. You’re stealing. You’re lying. You’re taking false credit for something you didn’t earn, and you’re hurting someone else by doing so."
Beatport went on to say that scammers are easily spotted and "there’s nothing the music industry hates more than an exposed fraud." |
