Stereosonic co-founder and Totem Onelove director Frank Cotela has taken to Facebook to vent his frustration at the "roided up bro culture" that contributed to a series of brawls at Stereosonic Sydney last week. Footage of a large fight breaking out during Showtek's set at the Sydney Showgrounds emerged online in the wake of the festival, showing a number of beefed up, scantily clad men brawling and showcasing exactly the opposite of what music festival culture is about. One man was knocked unconscious in the incident, which security struggled to contain for a number of minutes. Posting on his Facebook page this morning, Cotela wrote: "Everyone is over the roid up bros muscle culture. Can't they just see that they are a laughing stock? Brother, everyone is laughing at your shorts, singlets, fake tans, bumbags and cartoon shaped bodies, but more importantly we are sick of the charged up violence you bring. Time for a change!" Cotela goes on to suggest the festival may look at profiling patrons upon entry in the future and stopping those who seem potentially aggressive from entering. The culture Cotela speaks about has attracted fierce criticism on social media this year, with footage of the Sydney brawl circulating widely online. Meanwhile, fellow Australian festival Good Life, Future Music Festival's under 18 alternative, has included a new dress code on their website, banning "bum bags/fanny packs or man bags" and stating "shirts must remain on at all times except for in the water park.”
