Oprah. The woman needs no introduction, but on Sunday night at the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Reese Witherspoon did a pretty good job. "There are a lot of people known on a first‑name basis, but there’s only one person whose name is a verb, an adjective, and a feeling."
The pioneer was honored with the 2018 Cecil B. DeMille Award and is, shockingly enough, the first black woman to receive the honor. While the night was, in its entirety, an inspiring moment for change, nothing was quite as powerful as Oprah's acceptance speech - a moving commentary on women, people of color, and the disenfranchised among us. As for their abusers? Their time is up. |
