| After calls for Miami's Ultra Music Festival to be banned from its current location, it has been voted to return to Bayfront Park next year.
Following the stampede last month that saw a security guard hospitalised, various city officials, including Mayor Tomás Regalado and Miami City Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, called for the event to be moved away from downtown Miami but have been unsuccessful, according to a Miami Herald report.
Although Mr. Sarnoff reportedly displayed a video and photos showing derogatory behaviour at the festival, the commission's 4-1 vote ensured UMF will return downtown, along with a set of conditions.
These include setting up mental health and drug stations, the police upping their search for drug dealers, installing two layers of G8 fencing and hiring extra police for perimeter patrol. |
