Another one of the UK's superclubs is under threat to the development of flats. Plans outlining a multi-million pound development including apartments, shops and leisure facilities are to be submitted to Liverpool city councillors this week, meaning Nation, the home of Cream, could be bulldozed. Although it's still early days for the development, it could mean that other clubs on Wolstenholme Square - The Kazimier and Pleasure Rooms - will have to make way. Cream, which celebrates part two of its birthday on November 29, has issued a statement, thanking everyone who has shown support since the plans were made public. "In response to the recent news regarding the development of Wolstenholme Square and the birthplace of Cream, we have been overwhelmed by the response and love from music fans around the world, and would like to thank everyone for their support in wanting to retain this important musical and creative hub and indeed our venue Nation." The developers, Hope Street Properties Ltd, issued a report saying: "The proposal offers economic benefits and employment opportunities and presents an efficient re-use for long-term vacant premises and under-used land." London's Ministry of Sound had a lucky escape earlier this year, after an agreement was reached to stay open despite a housing development in Elephant & Castle.
